9 months

Lincon is already 9 months and a week so I guess I better get going.

I was so relieved to know that at 9 months there is no shots!! So the doctor's office was quick and painless this time around.

Weight 18.2 - 14% (Has only gained 1.4 lbs since 6 months - Guess I need to feed him more!)
Height 28 in. - 40%
Head 17.8  - 43%

He started crawling around 8 months (maybe a little before). He did the army crawl with the left arm and right foot mostly but has since moved to his knees until he figures out how much faster he is on his belly and switches back to the army.

He pulls himself up onto whatever he can. He loves standing by the couch, crib, the tub, chairs, legs, etc. He has finally figured out how to get back down to a sitting position from standing which has decreased the number of bonks on the head from falling backwards however it does still happen.

His favorite toys that aren't actually toys - -
Vents. He loves running his hands up and down our big vents. The other day when our home teachers were over (one of them lives below us), he commented how they were laughing the other night when they heard Lincon "discovering" the vents.
Bathroom scale. He loves loves pounding on it. Especially when we are in the bathroom getting ready.
Entertainment center. He pulls all of our movies out multiple times a day. We have started just throwing them back in instead of straightening them everytime. I don't mind and it keeps him entertained.
Doorstops. What baby doesn't love doorstops. When you flick them they make an awesome sound :) He has already broken one off -- whoops :)
Cords. Of course he tries to pull every cord so we have just designated an old xbox cord thing that he gets to play with.

He babbles, talks, and blows his lips constantly. Dad is the best at getting him laughing and he loves playing. We are loving seeing him grow and learn but it is going to fast. Sorry no pictures this time - - I will post some pictures and videos next time.

Halloween 2011

I stink at blogging. It's a fact. I'm going to try and post some things I missed and back date them.....

As for Halloween this year, we decided to take Linc down to Shelley so he could go trick or treating with his cousins and see his grandparents. He has had a cold for awhile so we only took him to a couple houses (plus he doesn't eat candy - - it was all for us :).

We had fun eating pizza with family on the Balmforth side, visiting Great-Grandma & Grandpa, and my parents. He was a tropper and didn't try and pull off his head piece once!

This was the end of the night... don't judge :)

Bad Mom

I had my first experience today that made me say "I'm a bad mom."
Here is the story - - don't worry it all works out in the end.
I was helping Adam with his homework in Lincon's bedroom/the office. We had the door completely shut because we had some company in the front room. Linc was down for a nap on our bed. All of the sudden we hear a thump and then Lincon starts screaming.
Adam and I look at each other panicked and then ran to our room. Poor linc rolled off our bed and onto the floor.
He must have been awake for awhile because he was just playing and had fallen off. The only thing is since the door was closed we didn't hear him when he woke up.
Don't worry -  10 minutes later he was laughing and having fun but it scared all of us for awhile.

6 months

This post is long overdue considering in 2 weeks he will 7 months but I need to document!

Linc is 6 months old and growing up so fast. At his checkup he was:
17 lbs - 35%
26.5 - 52%
Head - 17 in - 33%

For those of you who spend anytime around Lincon or us, you probably know that he doesn't cry. Sure he whines and whimpers every once in awhile but he doesn' ever full on cry - - except when he gets his shots. Adam and I have been able to go to every appointment so far except for this last one I had to go alone and I struggled listening to my baby scream. I hate it :( It has definently gotten worse the older he gets. But he was a trooper the rest of the day and was all smiles after he woke up from his nap.

We did a little photoshoot - - and he wasn't very cooperative. He wasn't crying or fussing or anything - he just wouldn't smile. Something about when I put that big black camera in front of my face makes the smiles go away. I need to make something like this:
Find this here

A few things about Linc
-He is rolling everywhere. He started rolling at 5 months, but now when I put him down in 1 spot, 5 minutes later he is across the room and backwards.
- He is sitting like a champ.
- Has a scratching fettish. When he is in his crip, he scratches the sheets. When he is in his carseat, he scratches the belt. When he sits on my lap, he scratches my jeans. He also scratches our skin and himself so we have to make sure to keep those nails short!
- Loves his food - except the meat baby food. We tried that 1 day and he literally dry heaved. I think we'll wait another month before we gave that a try. (Although I don't even know if I'll ever give it to him because it smells like cat food and looks disgusting)
- His favorite foods are: rice cereal, peas, & carrots. He is starting to like sweet potatos and wasn't a big fan of bananas on the first go around but we'll see.
- Sleeps 11-12 hours a night. He is still waking up about once to eat on occassion but he is so cute so he gets away with it. Goes to bed at 8:45 or 9 and gets up at 8:30 most days.
-Loves taking naps on mom and dad's bed. He looks like a King in the middle of our King size bed.
- Loves hanging out with dad. Adam has been on his 7 week break from school so he has been the stay at home dad. They have been spending lots of time together. :)
- Still spits and blows bubbles a lot. However he has been talking a lot lately too.

In the middle of this video is Lincon's "cry"

Here are a few goodies from our little photoshoot. Of course we had to do some Boise State pictures . . . Go Boise!

2 years

Two years ago (this last monday), I made the best decision of my life and married my best friend.
Adam I love you and I couldn't be happier. You are a wonderful husband and father. Thanks for everything you do for me and Linc. I love you baby. Thanks for a wonderful 2 years :)

We decided to keep our anniversary low key and since it was on a Monday, we decided to go to the Bodies Museum, which have been wanting to do for awhile. We went to Olive Garden for dinner, came home and put Linc to bed and then sat, cuddled and watched a movie. It was a good day :)

July Haps

Linc has officially explored new dietary options. Although he does enjoy mama milk, I think he is enjoying the variation and his once a day feedings of rice cereal. There is something exciting about giving your baby his first taste of food - - he is getting so big.

We mostly give him rice cereal, however we decided we would try a little baby food the other day so I busted out some squash. Let's just say he doesn't have an aquired taste for it....(However neither would I, it doesn't smell very good!) After the third day of feeding him squash I think he was starting to get used to it but still made some funny faces when he ate.

The little man is officially rolling and has been for almost 2 weeks. He only rolls from back to belly and hasn't quite figured out the other way so just rolls over on his belly, plays for a minute, fusses until someone rolls him back over and then repeats. It's a pretty fun game.
Here is a couple goodies of the cutie because I can :)

As for the haps of life, the summer has been great. Adam is officially done with the semester and has taken over baby duty for at least 4.5 hours a day while mama bear goes to work. He finished the semester with flying colors and I can't believe he only has one more semester of undergrad! We've had a couple of fun little outings including; water park, boating (Linc loved it and took one of the best naps ever), cabin, walks in the stroller, local swimming pool, movies, family bbq's, etc!
He looks nervous but I promise he enjoyed it!

Rocking the suit.

Also.... I have a new niece! My sister Chalee had the sweetest little girl on the seventeenth and she is adorable. Oakley Dawn weighing 8 lbs. I got to take her newborn pictures and she was so good for them. Here is a little sneak peak --- I plan on posting in a bit with more pictures from her session on my photo blog!

Linc and his funny ways

Here are a couple of videos of Linc off my phone. The first one is him laughing. Please ignore my obnoxious voice.... apparently he thinks it funny. And yes.... that wet ring around his neck is slobber.
This one is some weird thing he has been doing with his mouth lately. Adam and I think it is pretty entertaining.

baby giggle

Apparently the word "boo" is a funny word. I love how the more ridiculous you act, the funnier you are to babies :)

4 months

I can't believe how fast time flies. Lincon hit the 4 month mark on Sunday and has his appointment yesterday. Here are his stats:

Weight: 14.6 lbs (44%)
Height: 25.5 in (73%)
Head Circ: 16.3 (25%)

Lately he......
  • Spits everywhere. If you lay him on his back, he immediately starts blowing bubbles and spitting.
  • Loves his fists and sucks on them a lot. I think he likes his fists more than his binky.
  • Knows who his mom is and who is dad his. We have had many people comment on how his demeanor changes when we leave the room. He is becoming way more aware of what is going on and knows when mom leaves for work.
  • Sleeps like a champ. Has been going to bed at 9 and sleeps until 9:30. Since I don't go to work until afternoon, I have been sleeping in with him but I have felt pretty lazy so I need to start getting up before him.
  • He usually eats twice in the night, but I only give him around 2 or 3 ounces each time. I'm trying to phase out his nightly feedings.
  • Loves him bumbo and sitting up in general. We busted out his doorway bouncy seat today for the first time and he loved it!
  • Hardly ever cries. Seriously. He mostly grunts and whines when he needs something but hardly ever full on cries.
  • Doesn't love belly time but it is getting better. He was a champion during he 4 month photoshoot.
Overall he is such a good boy. Adam and I comment how lucky we are that we got such a good boy. Its true! Here are a couple photos from his 4 month shoot.

Happy Father's Day

I have the greatest husband and this is his first father's day. I just wanted to write a little post and tell him how wonderful I think he is. From the moment we found out I was pregnant, I knew he would love our baby unconditionally and eternally. And of course... he does.

I'm grateful for days like today because it gives me a reason to be mushy and to write cheesy (but true) posts. Adam Nathaniel.... I love you more than anything and I'm so grateful for everything you do for Lincon and I. You truly are am amazing father. Thanks for always pitching in and doing your part in our family. Thank you for being a worthy priesthood holder and helping to keep the spirit in our home and in our lives. I love watching you with Linc. I have a feeling that he is going to be a daddy's boy and that you two will be buds forever. We love you!!!

I also want to give a little shout out to my dad and my father-in-law! So grateful that I have 2 amazing fathers! They are both amazing men who have had very positive influences in my life. My dad is great..... he's not the mushy type but I still want to tell him how much I love and appreciate him.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

Catch up time

Memorial weekend we went on our annual camping trip with the Huntsman's. I look forward to this time all year. Although I see my family and extended family often, there is something about camping with them that I love. My dad let us use his second camping trailer so on Friday afternoon, Adam, Lincon and I headed down to get it and pull it back up to our camp spot. It was a long drive, but Lincon was a trooper.
There is something about Memorial weekend that Mother Nature doesn't like because more times than not it seems like weekend has bad weather. I was a little nervous going because Linc isn't even 4 months old, but it all worked out. We spent a lot of time in the trailer hanging out and playing games but we did manage to get out when the sun was shining and Adam and I even got to go on a nice four wheeling ride.

Memorial weekend marks the "anniversary of the engagement."
I'm grateful this man decided to make me his wife. We been friends for 9 years, dating for almost 5 (if you add it all together :) and married for almost 2. Now we have a beautiful son to show for it! Thanks for everything hun, I love you!

And this wouldn't be a post without some updates and pictures of my pride and joy :)
He has started doing some pretty cute things as of late. He LOVES having his bum changed. My changing table has been a great investment - - I probably change about 95% of his diapers on it. And he knows that when I lay him down on the table that its time to be changed. Without fail - - he starts spitting and blowing his lips.
Also, he has found his fists and they are constantly in his mouth. Occassionally he'll get just his pointer finger in there and will accidentally gag himself.
He hates belly time. Well at least he hates it when he's on the ground. He doesn't mind if he's laying on me or if I prop him up on his boppy.
He loves sitting up and facing out at the world. If he starts fussing, all you have to do is stand up and let him face out and he is instantly calm.

Camping trip - fell asleep hanging out with dad

Playing with Aunt Brynn on the camping trip. He slobbers a lot.
We had to move to the big towel! Again... more slobber.

3 Months, Birthday, Mother's Day

Lincon is 3 months old and I can't believe how fast time has flown. His personality is really starting to come out and I love it.

I decided I better post his 2 months stats since I never did.

Weight: 10.7 lbs (26%)
Height: 23.5 inches (73%)

From weighing him on our scale - Adam and I think he weighs about 12.5 lbs now. Getting big! My sister likes to joke "I can't decide which chin I like best." Yes... he has a double chin :) He is officially a big boy now and likes to face outwards and sit up (with help of course). I feel like I have been very lucky because he HONESTLY is such a good baby. He really only fusses when he has a reason. Most of the time he is smiley and happy and has even started to laugh quite a bit. I haven't been able to catch it on video yet but hopefully soon!

We have been relatively busy around here. I have gone back to work part time (20 hours a week) and Adam is pretty busy with school. We switch off baby duty during the day, and most of the week get to be together in the evenings. I have been a BIG slacker on making dinner though because most of 3 times of week I don't get home until 6:30. I really need some good crockpot recipes to put in before I leave for work. Any recipes you would recommend???

I had a great birthday! I got a new lens - - -which I love! A 50 mm 1.8. I can't believe I went this long without having this lens. It was by far the most inexpensive and it's great! We started off my birthday by going to McDonald's for breakfast. (Yes... we still like McDonalds :) Later in the day we went mini golfing with family and friends. They all joined us later for dinner at Texas Roadhouse and it was delicious. Abbie had her dance recital that night so Adam, Lincon, and I head over to the recital to watch my sister and brother. We topped off the night by going to Orange Leaf. A lot of caloric intake for 1 day but I think I can justify it for my birthday.  :)

Mother's Day was wonderful. I was treated like a queen. Breakfast in bed - - French toast, sausage, eggs, cinnamon rolls and orange juice. Adam also made dinner that day and made roast, potatos and vegetables. To top it off he made this adorable picture/card of Lincon and him. It was a great day. I'm grateful to be a mom to a beautiful boy and to have such a wonderful husband that is supportive and loving.

My sister and I decided that for my mom's mother's day we wanted to give her some pictures of her grandson's. We had fun taking some pictures and made a little collage to hang up on her wall. She loved it!

Anyways - just a quick update and enjoy some pictures of my baby boy! :)

6 weeks old already...

Can't believe my baby is already 6 weeks old. Time is flying by way to fast and before I know it I will have to go back to work :( HOWEVER - - my work is great and is letting me come back part-time instead of full time and is working around Adam's school schedule which I am very grateful for.

Little facts about Linc - -
Weight - About 8.5 lbs (not exactly sure but we go to the doctor on the 19th.)
*When he is hungry, he is hungry. He pretty much decides this within 10 seconds and wants his food NOW!
*He got his bum from his father and not me (that sounds strange....) Let me explain... anything that comes out of his bum is LOUD. Whether its gas or #2 - he pushes with force and it is ridiculously loud. I have never heard another newborn that pushes like him.
*He loves to go #2 in a nice clean fresh diaper. I swear without fail when I change his bum - 5 seconds later he decides to fill it right back up.
*Loves the bath - especially with dad. Just doesn't like getting out.
*He snorts a little when he cries (not as much as when he was younger but still does)
*Has been given lots of nicknames such as: Linconpoop, Linksters, Lincon Log, Little Piglet, Linc the sink, etc.
*He loves his tongue and sticks it out a lot.

This is a common face he like to give me :)

I was convinced that he was the spitting image of his father until I took this 6 week picture of him and my sister said he was starting to look more like me. What do you think???

Lincon Adam Balmforth

It is time to officially announce the arrival of our little one. Lincon Adam Balmforth was born at 8:43 pm on February 19. He weighed 7 lbs 4 ounces and measured at 19 3/4 inches.
We arrived at the hospital at 7:30 am. It took about a half hour to just get paperwork done and get checked into the room. Once we got into the room I changed into the gown and waited some more. At about 8:30 am the nurse came in, asked me a bunch of questions, hooked me up to the fetal and contraction monitor, poked in my IV and started me on Pitocin. At about 9:30 is when the doctor came in and broke my water. Little uncomfortable but not bad. After they broke my water I expected the contractions to really start kicking in but nothing happened for awhile. I was checked at 1:30 pm and was only at about 5 cm and 85% effaced. My Pit was turned up to a 13 and my contractions were really strong by now. Adam and my mom told me to try and make it till 2:00 until I had the epidural. It was harder than I thought to make it till then. At 2:00 I told Adam to get the nurse because I wanted that epidural. By the time I actually had the epidural it was close to 3. He had to insert my catheter twice because it had some blood in it the first time. Getting the epidural didn't hurt compared to the pain of contractions. About 15 minutes later I was feeling great. Epidurals are the BEST INVENTION EVER. I give kuddos to those women who have babies naturally but I don't know if I will ever do so.

I tried to get some rest and relax after the epidural but I never fell asleep. I guess I was too excited. I was checked at about 6:30 and was dilated to a 9.5 but they wanted to let Lincon drop a little further so we had to wait another hour before I could push. I pushed for about an hour and 20 minutes and Lincon arrived at 8:43 pm. What an amazing experience! I watched the entire thing in the mirror and I'm so glad I did.

I can't believe that Lincon is already over 3 weeks old. Time is flying by and I wish it would slow down. He is such a good baby and hardly ever cries. He pretty much only gets fussy when he is hungry or has a dirty diaper. He is still somewhat mixed up on his days and nights but hopefully he gets it figured out.

As for me, I feel great! I really wasn't in too much pain afterward and was completely pain free after a week. I'm excited to get back into an exercise routine and get back in my jeans. Adam has been so great. He is a wonderful dad and has been a great help around the house. In the mornings he is great about taking Lincon into the living room and letting me sleep for a solid hour without interruptions :)

And here is some pictures of our little guy!
